I can’t believe another year has already come and gone since my last birthday party post! My sweet baby girl turned two years old and we had such an amazing time celebrating her. Charlotte’s second birthday party was so fun to plan and this year, I did my own unique twist on a “Two Sweet” theme. I wanted to use fun elements such as sweet treats and colorful decorations, but did not want to cover the space with candy or ice cream decor (as seen on Pinterest). Instead, I opted for classic elements like colorful flowers, pastel accents, and beautifully decorated and styled sweet treats.
THE FLOWERS
The flowers were such an important piece of the party, because they added in a big part of the colorful element of the “Two Sweet” theme and kept everything looking tasteful. I placed the flowers in the balloon arch, in the table settings, and in arrangements used on the card and food tables. I worked with Diane Morgan from My Flower Barn to bring my ideas to life and also purchased some bunches of flowers from our local King Soopers. We used purples, pinks, peaches, blues, and yellows for the flowers, but tried to keep the yellow at a minimum. Diane did such a beautiful job creating the arrangements and bringing all of the colors together.
THE BALLOONS
This year was my first year using double stuffed balloons and they turned out so pretty. Prior to the party, I didn’t really know the purpose of double stuffed, but it honestly does make a huge difference- it creates the perfect pastel, opaque look. Since it was our first experience with this type of ballon, we did run into some challenges at first with blowing up the balloons, but once we got the hang of it, the arch was super simple to put together. I also used the large 24″ inch balloons in matte baby pink and matte aqua above the cake table. They added such a fun touch!
THE SWEET TREATS
In order to really achieve the “Two Sweet” theme I wanted to have a variety of treats on the cake table. I chose to use mini donuts, watercolor heart-shaped cookies, a watercolor cake, candy, and cotton candy. The candy jars were an obvious need for the theme and the cotton candy bags were such a fun touch. The cotton candy hung by a string with tiny pink clothes pins and adorned them with small flowers was one of my favorite pieces of decor as well. The cake was made by Mulberries Cake Shop, the Cookies by Sprinkle Shop, and you can order the mini donuts through Etsy.
