I am so happy to finally share our gallery wall reveal. I have been waiting two years to get something on the wall above our staircase and it is finally complete. It is definitely a challenge, because the wall leads to the basement rather than the second floor so I was honestly confused for quite some time as to how exactly I was going to style the space. Personally, I think that is is much easier to style walls when they lead up the stairs, because you have a clear line of sight, in most cases on your selected wall decor.
I chose these large black Wood Gallery Frames from Pottery Barn with the oversized matting. In my opinion the matting adds so much dimension and makes it a little different than your typical gallery wall. These frames are beautifully made and come in several colors including this black and a beautiful gray! I also love the look of these frames because they are quite large and there was a lot of space to fill. They fit so perfectly!
Another challenging aspect of this project was getting the photos hung! At first we tried to use a typical ladder and that just did not work at all. It was so unsafe and I do not recommend even attempting it. We then decided to buy a ladder that is specifically made to work on stairs. You can shop the exact ladder we used HERE. It worked perfectly and was very stable and safe!
Our final challenge was making sure that the photos were hung with correct spacing and at the same level. We were able to hang the frames perfectly because we first measured our wall an then layer the frames out on the floor first to create a plan. We then were able to perfectly space the frames and determine that we needed to hang them 4 inches apart. This strategy worked perfect for us!
I hope you enjoyed our Gallery Wall Reveal and that it inspired you to get creative with spaces in your home!
