If you read my skincare post a few weeks ago, you know that my body went through a lot of changes postpartum. Not only did my skin change, but the hair growth on my scalp came to a sudden halt. I began to notice bald spots near my temples and my hair was falling out throughout the ENTIRE day. Every time I touched my hair, there was strands breaking off or falling out, so naturally I began to panic- I mean who wants to loose their hair, EVER?
I started my journey in hair growth by taking Biotin every day. I really wish I would have started taking this the day Charlotte was born, but you live and you learn I guess! I also began using Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Scalp Care Anti-Thinning Shampoo, Conditioner, and Tonic (my wedding hair stylist recommended this) about every other shower. I chose to focus the tonic at my temples, where I was experiencing the most hair loss. I wanted to use as little of the product as possible in order to make it go further, longer.
I noticed a difference within about four weeks. My hair was no longer falling out throughout the day and there was new hair growth throughout the hairline on my temples and forehead which you can see in the picture above. The only issue I was facing at this point was dryness and itchiness of the scalp, which was nothing new to me. I have always had these issues, they were just starting to resurface if you will.
I figured it was time to get an experts opinion, so when I went to get my hair done in June at Beauty Bar in Windsor, I asked my stylist Shannon Freismuth if she had any recommendations for dry and itchy scalp. She sold me immediately on the Surface Awaken Shampoo. Shannon explained that shampoo was made with cayenne pepper and mint which promotes new growth and a healthy scalp. She also said that the natural palm and coconut oil gently cleanses while natural capsicum and menthol stimulates to maximize nutrients to the hair and scalp. This shampoo is seriously the best of both worlds!
Shannon used the shampoo during my wash that same day and I immediately felt relief with a cooling and tingling sensation. I have continued to use this every other wash since and have no longer had any issues with itchy or dry scalp. On days where I want to use a different shampoo, such as my Living Proof Full Shampoo, I will still use the Surface Awaking on the back lower half of my scalp where I notice the most dryness. This works great for me personally in maintaining my scalp.
If you would like to try out the Surface Awaken Shampoo, Shannon is offering my subscribers a discount. Just mention The Lane to Fashion Blog when you drop into The Beauty Bar of Windsor!
Finally, I thought I should mention what I use to make my hair “feel” thicker and “look” more voluminous. I started using the Living Proof Thickening Cream on my hair after the shower, when it is wet and combed through. I love this stuff, it makes my hair feel so much thicker and gives it life! Personally I need products like this even if I am not dealing with hair loss issues because of the fine texture of my hair. It seriously makes me feel like I have grown thicker, fuller hair in minutes. You have to give it a try!

Thanks for sharing your story. Do you still use Biotin and the Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Oil Shampoo or are you using Surface Awaken instead for the same results (not loosing your hair throught the day, etc)?

Hi,
Thank you so much for visiting my site and reading my post! I still take Biotin every day as well as use the Paul Mitchell Shampoo about every three showers. I love to rotate my shampoo so I use a few different ones, but always keep Paul Mitchel Tea Tree and Surface Awake in the schedule consistently. With this regimen I am no longer noticing the hair loss throughout the day- Thank God!
Hope that helps!
