I don’t know about you, but when I go to pick out a complete outfit, it can take close to 20 minutes which was all fine dandy when I didn’t have to get my house and my baby ready for the sitter. At this point in my life, I don’t have time to go sit in my closet for several minutes trying to figure out a whole new wardrobe change before my husband and I head out for date night. Whether you are busy with your children, work or school, I think it is important to know how to take an outfit from day to date night.
From Day
In general it is important to have items in your wardrobe that are versatile and can be worn in several different ways but for this look in particular you want items that can easilly be layered. This cami for example is a layering piece through and through because no one wants to be walking around wearing spaghetti straps in 35 degree weather. To top it off, the black color allows it to be easily paired with several different pieces. And finally, a good pair of denim is essential. A light wash mom jean can be worn in so many different ways and is a must have for any transitional look.
I chose to make my cami and light washed denim day appropriate by throwing on a long cardigan(similar linked here), headband, and sneakers (similar linked here).
To Date Night
In my opinion, shoes and accessories can elevate any outfit. Simply changing your accessories and shoes can completely transform a look. For daytime I like to stick with simple dainty jewelry and sneakers. But for date night however, a dressier shoe and statement jewelry are a little more appropriate.
For this particular outfit, I switched from a cardigan to my leather jacket (more affordable option linked here). A leather jacket is another closet staple in my opinion and can be worn with anything. In order to add a dressier element, I put on a statement earring, and suede booties.
