With social distancing in full swing, it can be easy to let go of lifestyle goals and get bored or stressed and snack. I have been a stay-at-home mom for a while now, so I have been able to master some tips to staying on track of my version of a healthy lifestyle. Everyone’s idea of a healthy lifestyle can different. For example, my lifestyle incorporates a predominately vegetable based diet that is dairy free, but also incorporates fish. Regardless of what your version of a healthy lifestyle is, whether it is dairy free, gluten free, or just nutritional based, these tips can help you stay on track!
ONE | GET INTO A ROUTINE
This tip can be helpful to so many more things than just staying on track of your “diet”. I personally use a routine in so many aspects of my life. Both Charlotte and I have a routine daily, my workouts are on a set routine, and finally how and when I eat is apart of a routine as well. At first it may be difficult, but if you practice a routine long enough, it can become habit. Once something becomes habit, there is no more overthinking or forgetting, it starts to be easy and natural.
TWO | FIND SOMETHING YOU LIKE AND EAT IT OFTEN
I use this tip CONSTANTLY. Once you find a set of meals or snacks that you like, that are nutritional based or fit into your healthy lifestyle, eat them often! I find it helpful to even write down these items, categorize them by meal, and then to finally put them into a weekly schedule. Once you do this so often, it too will become habit or second nature.
THREE | DRINK A PROTEIN SHAKE BETWEEN MEALS
I highly suggest finding a QUICK and tasty protein combo that you can drink anytime of the day. I love to drink protein shakes at snack time and after my workouts. They taste delish, fill my stomach, and tide me over until meal time. If you don’t have one you already love, this one is my favorite. It is so good and vegan!
FOUR | FIND A HEALTHY ALTERNATIVE TO YOUR CRAVING
I know that we all get cravings! Whether is be for something sweet or salty, we can’t always give into our cravings in an unhealthy way. I have found that when I am craving something, if I find a healthy alternative, I am typically just as satisfied. For example, if you are craving a Twix, try eating some trail mix or even just a piece of dark chocolate. After doing this so long, I now crave my healthy alternatives over the “bad stuff”!
I hope this was helpful! Would love to hear if you have any questions or are in need of any specific suggestions that pertain to your particular lifestyle.
