Having a nursing and changing station is an absolute must when taking care of a newborn. With my first, I had items stored an organized in our room for nursing and simply carried a small diaper caddy throughout the house for diaper changes. This method worked but there were still a few items that I would have liked to have on hand that didn’t fit in the basket. For example, my pump never had a home. The bag just sat in random spaces throughout my house and it honestly drove me nuts. I have now realized that having everything on a cart including my pumps, that can be moved from room to room is going to be a game changer.

diaper changing station
DIAPERS, WIPES, & DIAPER RASH CREAM | I loved Honest diapers, but didn’t get to use them in the newborn stage with Charlotte, so I am excited to give them a try with baby number two. I love that they have a wetness indicator, a space for babies belly button, and that they are very leakproof. I will also be using Water Wipes again. These are the only wipes I will use on my newborns – 99% water and so gentle. I like to store them in this wipes dispenser, because it makes grabbing a wipe super easy when you only have one hand available. Finally I will be keeping a tub of my favorite diaper paste in the cart along with this handy bum brush. This might seem unnecessary but honestly it is so convenient.
CHANGING PAD LINER | I like to use a changing pad liner for quick changes whether it be in bed, the couch, or the floor. These pads are a nice thickness, soft, waterproof, non-slip, and roll up for easy travel.
BURP CLOTHES | These are a necessity for obvious reasons. I like this set because they are large, soft, and not bulky.
PACIFIER | I like to keep our pacifier in the cart. It is nice to have within arms reach so I can give it to baby when needed.
ELECTRIC NAIL TRIMMER | From what I remember, I was constantly trimming Charlotte’s nails when she was a newborn, so a nail trimmer is a must in the cart. The one I currently own is no longer available, but I have linked a similar option at a more reasonable price.
OOGIE BOOGIE BEAR | I am kind of obsessive when I comes to boogers in my babies nose, so I will also be keeping this guy one hand. Makes picking those pesky boogers out of babies nose so quick and easy.
WHATS IN MY CART | SECOND + THIRD TIER
nursing station
BREAST PUMPS | I was fortunate enough to be able to get two breast pumps this time around. I am keeping both the Elvie Handsfree Pump and the Spectra S2 Plus Electric Pump in the cart. I chose to purchase both pumps, because I read a lot of reviews stating that the Elvie Pump was not as efficient as the hospital grade pumps, so I chose to get the Spectra a well with our insurance to be safe.
BREAST PADS, REUSABLE & DISPOSABLE | I prefer to use these reusable pads at home, where I can change them easily and place them into the laundry, not having to worry about misplacing them. I also like to use the disposable pads at home, but they are mostly for on the go where I can just toss the used one in the trash.
HAAKAA MANUAL PUMP | I plan to use this to catch milk in my opposite breast while nursing and as a hand pump when I am in a pinch. I have heard people rave about it, so I am very excited to give it a try. I also have this milk saver that I will probably use as well.
NIPPLE CREAM | This is my favorite nipple clean. I love that it is made by a clean and trusted brand, because it is bound to get in babies mouth.
BREAST THERPY PACKS | These are a must for those first few weeks or nursing. They can be used hot or cold and provide so much relief for engorement and pain.
BREAST GEL PADS | These gel pads are super soothing and provide pain relief for cracked and sore nipples.
POSTPARTUM ESSENTIALS | In the spare space, I chose to keep the extra postpartum underwear that I do not have room for in my bathroom caddy.
